Lindsey Horton Memorial

Our Mission

To honor & continue Lindsey Horton’s love for nursing & healthcare services.

Our Inspiration

Lindsey Horton was a registered nurse at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, Texas. She worked in the Surgery Department and completed two cases the morning of August 10, 2020. She took a break and went to the bathroom. A while later her co-workers began looking for her. The bathroom was locked, and they could not get in. They called Maintenance to pull the core of the lock. When they opened the door, they found Lindsey’s lifeless body on the floor. The cause of death was determined to be “Sudden Cardiac Death due to Mitral Valve Prolapse”. She went into a fatal arrhythmia, probably ventricular fibrillation. The Lindsey Horton Memorial Scholarship Fund has been started in honor and memory of Lindsey and will provide scholarships to nursing students and other healthcare fields so that out of tragedy can come some good.

Fundraising to support our Mission

Our initial goal was to provide three $10,000.00 scholarships to students from Andrews County. However, thanks to an outpouring of generosity, we were able to raise close to $100,000 our first year. This allowed up to give scholarships in not only Andrews but in Lamesa, Crane, Rankin, and Fort Stockton as well. During 2022 we were able to raise close to $150,000 allowing us to give even more scholarships in Lindsey’s name. Lindsey died three months before she would have graduated with her BSN degree.
